Summer was full of generosity! We had many volunteers and myriad opportunities to make an impact in our community! Here are the highlights:

We completed more than 7 months of English as a Second Language classes and have successfully transitioned our students into an offering from Mott Community College for the months of October and November.

We donated car seats to a family in need.

We helped a family in a difficult situation with their water bill.

We provided funds for a family to complete their medical exams necessary for immigration procedures.

A generous volunteer with a green thumb provided fresh vegetables for 5 of our families throughout the summer.

Various donations were delivered to families: 2 dressers, 2 printers, 2 fans, kitchen items, mattresses, 2 washing machines.

We provided translation several times for appointment making, CPR training, and medical visits.

We made a donation to help with medical care of young man in need.

We helped with two moves.

Our deacons distributed backpacks laden with school supplies!

Help Needed: We have experienced an uptick in requests for support as our friends celebrate their one year anniversary here and many have moved into new rentals. Currently we have two requests for furniture. We are looking for dressers, cabinets, sofas, and dining tables with chairs. If you have any of these items please let Sarah or the church office know.

In September we were honored to get to meet Rolly’s family! Rolly was the first refugee with whom our team was matched, way back in 2018. He arrived in October of that year and then waited 6 years to be reunited with his wife and sons. He sends heartfelt gratitude to our team for supporting him in his time of need.

Finally, with Thanksgiving on the horizon, a generous donor has offered to purchase tickets for our families to enjoy the annual Turkey Dinner on November 8th at First Presbyterian in Fenton. This “Friends-giving” event will be a great way to share traditions and traditional holiday foods! If you would like to join us you can get your tickets by calling the church office at 810.629.7801.
