On Saturday, February 15, fourteen volunteers traveled to the Shelter of Flint to clean and paint a two-bedroom apartment as well as to clean toys and organize various supply closets for the children. Our tour demonstrated how well they assist their guests. At the “new” main shelter, they can now serve 50% more guests including more handicapped guests and more men with children. The Shelter of Flint is a multi-faceted organization that provides much-needed emergency and transitional housing for the homeless as well as provides numerous programs designed to help the homeless find their way to a better life.
The Shelter is always short of housing and very much wanted the apartment refurbished so that it could be occupied quickly.
