Our Jr. & Sr. High youth led both worship services for Youth Sunday, February 12. Senior Logan Kirkey delivered the sermon titled “God’s Love Never Ends.” From Colossians 3: 12-17, Logan explored God’s love being patience and forgiveness, and challenged us to spread the love of God to others through these acts.
Using the example of a guitar chord, when played correctly it has a beautiful resonance, but when altered, it doesn’t sound quite right. This shows how humans distort the love of God.
Youth painted negative words and images graffiti style on a backdrop, with a heart of lights over the words. This represented an electrical circuit that, when turned on, lit the heart of God. This light spread to lights all around the sanctuary, showing how God’s love spreads when we act according to his purpose.
Our youth write all parts of worship for Youth Sunday worship, including choosing hymns and songs. Thank you to Audrey MacLean for playing a beautiful piano piece for offertory and to all youth who helped lead the congregation in new songs. It was wonderful to hear the voices of the congregation singing these songs, and singing “Jesus Loves Me” a cappella was very moving.
Thank you again, youth, for your thoughtful and respectful approach to the meaning and experience of worship! Below is a picture of some of the youth who wrote and participated in service.
