The Massanetta Middle School Conference at Massanetta Springs, VA., never fails to inspire and equip young disciples. This year nine youth and three adults attended with this year’s theme of Gone Fishin’, exploring Luke 5: 1-11, the moment where Jesus calls his first disciples…
On an ordinary day several fisherman had an extraordinary encounter. What looked like a lousy night of fishing turned into an abundant catch. Simon and his friends would never be the same. Jesus asked them to drop everything to follow Him. He promised they would do more than catch fish. Jesus promises us a life of “catching people.” What does this mean exactly???
We examined our ordinary places and thought about what happens when Jesus meets us in the middle of our ordinary, everyday life. We were also challenged to think about we need to leave behind to follow Jesus and what it means to be a disciple of Christ.
A big THANK YOU to Mt. Horeb Presbyterian Church in Grottos, VA., for providing a place to sleep Monday night before the conference and for an outstanding homemade breakfast! True southern hospitality at its best!!!
Below is a group picture on their front steps, and a video of our favorite energizer at Massanetta made by Pastor Cliff Haddox!
